As promised, here is the info I got from one of Les' producers, Matthew Gillespie: Hey, Matthew. How are things? I hope well. I was just curious about something regarding Survivorman-I had heard or read somewhere that it was not actually Les's decision to have Todd Standing on the show, but rather the network's. Now, if this is true, then how much creative control does Les have regarding who he has on the show with him? Or is that decision left to the network? Any answer you can give would be fantastic. Thanks. 20 minutes ago Hi Henry, Les does not take any direction from the network. He's always maintained that it is his honesty portrayed and doesn't want them interfering. One of the main reasons he has featured Todd, amongst other figures is exactly because he is controversial. There is one episode, that takes place in Radium Springs, where Les blatantly starts to question Todd's credibility to camera... Thanks, Matt!!!!!!!! So this should clear up any misconceptions about the network being in control of Les's actions. He made this decision on his own, but as Matt indicates, Les does openly question Todd on the Radium Springs episode.

Thanks Henry!
I always feel better hearing things from the sources instead of the armchair back-stabbers rumor mill.
So what do you think about this? Do you think it hurts Les's reputation as an investigator by having Todd on the show, in light of the fact that he repeatedly questions Standings finding and methods?
Did you guys watch last nights episode? He was in some spooky places. What was your thoughts on his tactics with camera placement, baiting, perimeters, and equipment choices?

I think it does a little damage, but not too much, given that he openly questions Standing and does not buy into Standing's claims. As he said last night, he is no one's poster boy, advocate or skeptic. Meldrum will most likely not suffer too much damage from his association, so why should Les?

You've lost a lot of respect for Les the outdoors-man and survivalist, because he points out what everyone else points out? That when he sees trees buried upside down he comments "what could have buried a tree upside down in the middle of nowhere?" I don't ding him for that, I'd say the same thing, except followed by "it was probably loggers with equipment" because I'm 99.9 % sure it was humans. And especially RIGHT beside the damned road. But I wouldn't ding Les for merely stating that it's a topic of discussion and curiosity.
What else is he guilty of buying in to? Rock throwing? Grunts? Screams? Cave dwelling? Huge tree trunk sized stick formation?
Seeing as he isn't primarily a researcher, he's a relative newbie to the bandwagon, I'll give him some slack and a few props for efforts. He's still a lot more palatable than the FINDING BIGFOOT team. Now if he decides to go on a book tour with Standing, then he's dead to me.

He did use the words "far left". Do you think one of them was pushing down on his tent?
I can't side with them, but I can't see the harm in Less trekking with them or sitting for some meditation.
Surely they didn't populate the whole forest of stumps there with stick coverings.
I appreciate that he put so much effort on to trying to come up with something to fake or hoax with.
He spent over $10k working with experts and couldn't fool Dr. Meldrum and Dr. Bindernagel.
The return vocalization they got sounded authentic and like some I've heard before off Stan Courtney's site.
It had a sort of wailing reverberation, vibrato to it. And loud. Creepy.

It was a great episode and that vocalization was certainly interesting. I also enjoyed the footprint hoaxing experiment he conducted. I agree, Robert, I do not see the harm, although others might disagree, LOL

Survivorman Bigfoot Q&A with Les StroudPublished on Apr 13, 2015 On April 8, 2015 Les Stroud traveled to Pocatello, Idaho to present some of his findings of Bigfoot to Prof. Jeff Meldrum PhD, and to also have a question & answer session with the local fans and Bigfoot believers. This is the recordings of the Q&A session. It was an awesome experience, and I am glad I finally got to meet Les and shake his hand. He is really down-to-earth, and is willing to chat it up with everyone. Thank you Les

But still no concrete evidence of Bigfoot. Stroud likes to soak himself in attention no matter how he gets it. The only thing that he and the producers of his show want is high ratings and they will do anything for it.

I just don't agree with that. Of course everyone has a right to their own opinion.
Does the weight of "concrete evidence" fall on him because he made a couple of treks out with recording gear? I've made way the hell more treks with way the hell more recording gear, so if that's the case you should blame me for not finding Sasquatch. I'll own it.
Soak himself in attention? You mean as a PR person for his own program which he does for a living? Yeah god forbid he should take any time out of living in the wild to self promote. I think he does care about how he gets it, he mentions show integrity and I really can't see how he can be accused of selling out or exploiting anything "no matter how he gets it". What exactly are you comparing him to? Bear Grylls? Religion and TV evangelism? The Kardashians?
Curious, what else WOULD he and his producers want, if not high ratings? Crappy second-hand ratings? A plaque that says "Wilderness Survivor of the Year"?
I'm befuddled on all the hate. Les has done a lot less damage than most other "bigfoot field researcher" types. Stuff like this is why I say that the BF community is like religion and cults.

Sorry but no hate involved on my part at all CaptainMorgan. I'm just stating my educated opinion on Stroud and his many TV shows. I watched "The Legend of Klemtu Hill" recently and was not impressed. All he does is repeat facts that are already known about Bigfoot and adds the many stories told by the Indigenous people in the area for his story line. Also, his working with Todd Standing, a known hoaxer for a long time, does not add to his credibility. As a producer of his shows , Stroud is only in for the money that high show ratings bring in and nothing else. He won't advance the cause for the search of Bigfoot with his shows.
