Last Year my heart sank when I saw Survivorman Les Stroud being lead through Alaska by Todd Standing.
This past week I saw his new episodes free of Todd Standing and a little wiser and more educated.
Try to get yourself a copy and watch these two episodes:
Survivorman-Bigfoot S02E01 Legend of Klemtu Hill
Survivorman-Bigfoot S02E02 Where the Myth Began
I enjoyed these, I thought they were fresh and reflected elements and learning experiences that we've all been through, from carrying Duracal to always having the recorders running.

I enjoyed the Klemtu episode, haven't seen the 2nd one yet. I think it's on this weekend here in BC, I'll check and set the PVR.
Will you get up to BC for a visit this year? I'd love to see your new rig, BillR tells me it's really something. :-)

It turns out that this is a 4 part series dedicated to BF research. I watched Episode 3, and it does have Todd Standing in it, and they were back at the locations where Todd took him last year, but Les keeps his objectivity and wasn't drinking the kool-aid.
It was a good episode and I like what he's doing so far with the BF set.
Season 6 (2015)
A new six episode season of Survivorman has been ordered for Discovery Channel or Science Channel in the United States, and OLN in Canada.
# Title Original airdate:
36 01 "Survivorman Bigfoot: Legend of Klemtu Hill" April 1, 2015 (US), April 8, 2015 (Canada) Les heads to a volcano in British Columbia, Canada to investigate reports of Bigfoot sightings.
37 02 "Survivorman Bigfoot: Where the Myth Began" April 8, 2015 (US), April 15, 2015 (Canada) Les risks a run in with black bears while investigating the woods of northern CA looking for evidence of a Sasquatch.
38 03 "Survivorman Bigfoot: Mystery of Bigfoot Mountain" April 15, 2015 (US) Les explores the Rocky Mountains in Canada looking for proof of a Bigfoot in the area.
39 04 "Survivorman Bigfoot: Giants of the Forest" April 22, 2015 (US) Les brings infrared equipment to Alberta, Canada as he searches for a Sasquatch.
40 05 "Survivorman Bigfoot: Smoky Mountain Sasquatch" April 29, 2015 (US) Les treks through the Great Smoky Mountain range in TN following reports of Bigfoot sightings near an area where black bears can also be found.
41 06 "Survivorman Bigfoot: Searching the Southwest" May 6, 2015 (US) Les follows local reports of a Sasquatch spotted along a southern trail that leads from TX to UT.
I don't know when I'll be in lower B.C. yet. I'm working on the rig like a mad man prepping for the better weather, which we have some this weekend. I need to finish the electrical stuff inside and perm mount the electronics etc. I have aspirations to spend a week on Vancouver Island or some remote place, haven't nailed that down yet.

Sounds like a great plan, captainmorgan. Stop by to visit the crew here on your way through. I think you'll find us a little more "coheseive" this year. ;-)

I've watched this series through episode 5 and Todd Standing has been in them, but not the the focus on them so much as Les questioning his reactionary interpretations of noises in the woods. From his comments it appears that many people contacted him about Standing's reputation and he is keen to keep his objectivity.
You can tell that he's been in contact with squatchers due to the the way he hides his cameras, sets bait etc. I like his logic and the way he conveys his purpose without sounding like Phatt Moneytaker.
From what I can see from the wiki site where I copied this info from, there will be one more episode related to his bigfoot research.

My thoughts are...
STROUD hasn't learned his lesson, and has chosen to associate with a known hoaxer. Everything that involves STANDING is tainted -- period.

Todd Neiss told Thomas and I in Yakima that he had been in touch with Stroud about a number of Sasquatch related items He also told us that Stroud had hired a woman that was a member of the BFRO (she was at our table)

metronews.ca/news/calgary/734455/tvs-survivorman-to-chase-bigfoot-with-calgary-believer/We can't expect Stroud and Brady to know and hear everything we do in the BF community. And if it wasn't Todd Standing it would be some other crack pot, or Matthew Johnson who now claims he saw BF UN CLOAK and then disappear again. Standing says he heard low flying blacked-out copters fly over head in the slap middle of nowhere, middle of the night, then long rounds of multiple machine gun fire (think scene from PREDATOR), then the copters went back just as stealthy as they arrived. He suspects that the logging industry hires them to eradicate sasquatch. I'm dissapointed that Stroud partnered with Standing for a film op, however he states outright that he isn't drinking the Kool-Aid and that Standings evidence and reputation is in question by many researchers. Sure, I wouldn't want Standing within a days walk of my research area or to even know about it. In these episodes you see Les faced with many of the same challenges figuring out how things work out in the field. To figure out why trail cams aren't fast enough (to capture an owl in a fly-by who loves apples), why audio records don't capture the same things that you swear you heard etc. Les is experimenting with these techniques without the participation or assistance of Standing. We can only hope that he gets information and good advice from balanced pragmatic researchers. Now if we can just find some. .

In the credits STROUD lists himself as the producer, and it is the producer job to get it right. If STROUD wants to where that hat, then he has to bear the responsibility. A simple Google search of STANDING reveals everything you need to know. Why would it have to be a crack pot? Thomas Steenburg and Rick Knoll have both been in documentaries, and are sane, reasoned individuals. I hadn't heard that. JOHNSON can now be safely listed as hoaxer and sufferer of Ivan Marx Syndrome. I agree that he does say that, but his actions speak louder than his words. I saw this video last night and it highlights some of the logical fallacies that exist in the episodes... www.youtube.com/watch?v=tC724q_2hm0This is what gets to the heart of what I am saying... Having STANDING around taints it all, because he can't be excluded as a source of any noted phenomena. Scott CARPENTER the star of episode 5 is another whack-job that believes in infrasound, sasquatch cloaking or "stealth mode" and "gifting". As Thomas says, the inmates are running the asylum.

I could have sworn I saw somebody, I think on Facebook, say that it was actually the network's idea to hook Les up with Standing and Carpenter, which means Les may have given the network the decision to have them on, not making the decision himself, but I cannot remember where I saw it. Apparently it was supposedly the network's idea, not Les's to have Standing and Carpenter on, but if Les is as hands-on with his show as we have heard, shouldn't it be his decision to select or reject his research partner? Thoughts?

Oh ya well you know it and I know it, but feet on the ground logic like Thomas's isn't going to get the ratings like that of some lunatic defending himself in the middle of nowhere with only a road flare and desperate cries for help, or some animatronic sasquatch winky doll. I think that the reason these episodes HAVE some creative control is but for the fact that Les has some say in it, but when it comes to the $ side of things, and good old Canadian good will, Standing's the man they went with. Que sera sera, let's not burn Les at the stake just because he's still too open minded for us. .

I'm not on FB so I don't hear all the cool kid chatter. What I found was that article that there was some collaboration in advance of the shooting filming. Who all the players were and what their logic was, is a case for a top notch investigative journalist, someone who really knows and understands the playing field in the BF community, someone who who has the heart and integrity to . . . ok enough already, I volunteer you! YOU can get to the heart of this for sure. Please clear this up before Perez gets wind of it. .

I have an inside source on the show, so it should not be difficult to get this info. I will ask around and hopefully have an answer within a day or so.

Thx Henry, I think you can get the info with the right measure of tact and diplomacy. We should be mindful not to turn the heat up unduly when just doing some fact finding. Here's tonight's episode: Survivorman: Bigfoot Episode: Searching the Southwest NEW Les follows a trail from Texas to Utah to catch Bigfoot on camera; using scientific methods to lure the legend out of hiding. I wish I had that sort of backing to buy equipment with, everything I've done has been out of my own pocket. I need a new sugar mamma for a better Flir .
