It's not my personal agenda or cross to bear to defend Les Stroud. I don't know him, never met him and no one is telling me smack about him etc. I watched the same episodes and I guess I just have different views and expectations.
He is a survivalist that decided to address some research methods based on inexplicable experiences and used people and techniques that he found at his disposal.
He is not a "Sasquatch researcher", he has no previous experience.
I have no problems with his desire for money or ratings. None. Zilch.
I have no problem with his recounting facts or the many stories told by indigenous peoples.
I have no expectations that he could or would advance the cause of bigfoot research with his show.
In as much as he is not a researcher, he sure as hells made a good first effort. He did in 7 episodes what took me a long time and a lot of money to accomplish. I didn't have people throwing research areas, investigative techniques, equipment or funding at me.
So this is me claiming to not defend him, just re state the facts as I see them from my perspective. Instead of any nay-saying I wish him well and hope his involvement includes better people in the future.
Of course FINDING BIGFOOT is returning in case the BFRO and FB buffoons are more to anyone's taste.

Funny you should mention FB, as I was a participant in their local "Townhall" last night, airing this fall, I think. It was an interesting experience, and I picked up on a lot of local sightings that had not been reported, from the other witnesses telling their stories. Can't give any details, as all involved have to sign NDAs. I don't even know if my story will appear, or not, that's up to the editor.
Went for dinner/drinks with the cast and crew after, which was a lot more fun than the taping of the show. ;-)

That's definitely one thing they have going for them with the long running program, that people will come forward with their stories in a setting conducive to do so. BF church if you will.
I hope your story DOES air. It seems to go by 1) blondes with cleavage 2) young people 3) hunters 4) anything sensational then the general pop. We can't compete with #1.

I think I can say that your list pretty much nails it, without violating the NDA. ;-)
My take is that the cast is sincerely interested in the subject, while the producers are all about the ratings. I guess that's the reality of "reality" TV.

Don't know any of the "handles", so I'm not sure if any of those people made it to the meeting. I know some drove many hours to get there, though most were local (100km radius).

It turns out that this is a 4 part series dedicated to BF research. I watched Episode 3, and it does have Todd Standing in it, and they were back at the locations where Todd took him last year, but Les keeps his objectivity and wasn't drinking the kool-aid. . I thought Standing had this magical hole he went through to get into the land of the lost where he could crawl up a stream and watch Bigfoot all day - and yet he didn't offer to take Stroud there .... go figure.
