"Quatchi" is the name of the principal mascot for the 2010 winter olympics in Vancouver, it is simply based on sasquatch, as the creatue is known is this part of the world, this provides a bit more world recognition to the sasquatch and our research. Red

Hey! Anything which gets Squatch in the paper in a favorable light I am all for! Even if it is directed at kids in a money grab! At least they are being honest about their motives!~

When I first heard of the mascot thing, I thought, wow, the science community won't recognize him, but the olympics sure are. I see it as positive.

I agree it is a good thing getting more publicity for Squatch - and I think it will peek interest in young minds "mommy, what's a Sasquatch"?.....our future scientists!! That being said...all of the mascots are based on "mythical" creatures from BC...and I don't think Sasquatch wears earmuffs??
