This is mt letter to W5 after the conclusion of their program... Greetings! I was hoping that the March 31st broadcast of the sasquatch film from Manitoba was going to dwell upon the misfortune of a guy who saw something which he was not prepared for..and who was ..definitely ..not prepared for the usury which followed by sleazy TV mags and questionable Bigfoot investigators. Just a story about a Canadian caught up in events beyond his control! Instead I found a program worthy of any American counterpart! Even the moderator could not speak without tongue in cheek for the entire episode. Why doesn't a reputable organization such as yours have the guts to do a real study on this subject in Canada? You would be amazed that there are people out there who are not of the lunatic fringe, but honest, curious, sceptical individuals..seeking the truth! Why don't you have the enough national espree to make a story on Canadians who have devoted much of their lives to the mystery..just going on the facts available to them? Not speculation, but facts. Anecdotal evidence (reports)! Physical evidence (footprints)...(hair samples)! Legitimate researchers..who are not necessarily believers..but who would be equally satisfied to prove or disprove the existence of the creature! It has nothing to do with scandal mags..or opportunists who are nothing more then booking agents for tours..or freaks of any kind! Not that there aren't lunatics out there, but you find that in every endeavour! We are professionals, lawyers, police, firemen, rangers.soldiers, teachers..and more... Whenever you are ready to hear the truth about the past twenty years of sasquatch research..and the people involved! Get in touch! The door is always open... Hmm sounds like it was a good thing that I missed it--too busy gardening on this fine day! Was it that aweful? What did they say?

As a journalist, I can tell you that most, if not all, find things like Sasquatch, UFO's and local sitings, as well as ghosts (but not so much), taboo to cover in main stream media. The idea of most in "news" is of a sceptical nature. I'd say, (without seeing the piece either), that the journalist was probably assigned this story, that he truly didn't want to cover, and because of his lack of research or lack of "hard" facts, took the attitude of a biased sceptic.
I know when I've talked to people in my realm of media about my interest as a wannabe investigator, I've been laughed at. It's just the lack of knowledge and lack of interest in the mainstream belief (or disbelief) of cryptozoology that taints most journalists unbiased ways when it comes to a story.

Also, to add to that......
Is there any way to post a link to the story on here?

There's a link to the story (although it just touches the edges of the documentary) in sierra4's first post.

Is this the story of the Manitoba ferry operator that saw a tree stump and took a video of it only to be ripped off by his reserve elders? common thread I'm afraid, I watch it and i concure, tree stump. sorry about his luck and inability to work after the fact.
