Well I see that there were many people who not only did not like the painting, but decided to take it one step further and crushed the very existance of it on one of the other (main) forums around the web. There were very harsh and discouraging comments which gave no constructive direction on ways to improve, just a referal to sasquatch scat. Well the point of this message is to thank those on this forum for keeping their harsh opions to themselves and not broadcasting out that the painting was, in their mind, "nuts" I am sure there are some of you that may have felt that - but decided NOT to comment out of respect. I appreciate this. I did paint this one for myself and I love it very much - even though it is no Bateman painting. I wanted to try something new and enjoyed doing this piece and I am happy with the result. I took the chance that someone out there may feel the same and thought why not try to put it out there and see? Although I did get some offers, I decided I am not willing to let it go for the prices offered.
I'm not angry that it did not sell for a price I felt fair, nor am I angry that there was a lack of interest. Paintings are something that are personal to each individual. They get hung on the wall and you see them everyday. If you don't love it then why would you want to look at it? I get it completely. What I am angered about is the way that the other forum members decided to instantly become art critics in the sense that they most likely spent lengthly periods of time in front of the computer looking for ways to make a funny at the expense of someone - who is just trying to express themselves creatively.
I did ask for comments and/or feedback from this forum and did not recieve any. I can take that as either people here did not like it or just were not interested. I am thankful that it was left at that and not taken further.
For that reason, I will continue painting this theme - if not only for myself. Maybe I might even consider posting them here in case one is of interest to one of you.
To Vilnoori: I am very, very greatful that you posted this around to help me out. I know the response/result was not what was intended when you introduced this link to that forum.

I think people were very unkind, but that forum (which I quite enjoy actually) has a reputation for not reserving opinion on any matter. I think you should keep at your painting. I do painting too, and I think a painting can convey information that a photograph cannot. So you keep on keeping on, ok?

I hope you don't mind me asking, what made you think that they have whites in their eyes, like people, vs. gorillas and chimps that have mostly brown? www.topnews.in/files/Gorillas.jpg

it's his rendition. it is not a photograph.
being that we have no actual evidence of a bf, he could give it seven toes and six fingers, even a tail. nobody could say it's wrong, because nobody can prove otherwise.
i'm just saying.
