Hey all, in a few weeks I'm going to spend a couple of days up in the Whipsaw country. I've found sighting reports from Princeton and Coalmont but nothing from the high country.
Any info. on sightings up there or ideas of places to check out?
BTW, my beast will tackle most roads.
Thanks, Moose.

In Thomas' In Search of..., he reported that there was a rash of sightings near Coalmont (Granite and Newton Creeks to be exact) during the 80s. There were some cabins near there. Occupants logged that there were rocks thrown at the cabin, strange noise, footrpints, and two sightings.

Thanks Sebastain, I guess I should get the book. I'm wondering, at this point, if I'll be able to go because of the fires in Manning park. If not I'll just go somewhere else. There are lots of muddy meadows on top of the Whipsaw, though, that would be good for track hunting.

Just curious, "my beast will tackle most roads.", What kind of beast is that?

'93 f150 4X4 with 6 inch lift on 33 inch mud terrains. Homemade bush bumpers, Spots up front, floods in rear. Ugly but does the trick!

I guess I never followed this post up. Spent 4 days in god's country, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Elk and deer tracks, bear tracks, wolf tracks. There was about 2 inches of snow once we reached elevation so tracks were very obvious. I will check back there in the spring. I would definitely recommend the trip but it can be hell on a vehicle. Unless you have an extreme 4X4 I would advise to go in from the Coalmont side so you'd be going DOWN the bad stuff instead of up it.
