Sounds like an interesting incident. Any other campers in the area? I have talked to 2 people with firsthand encounters east of harrison lake and mine was on the west side. I think that there's a chapter in one of Thomas Steenburg's books on silver creek. I think it was a logger who had a couple of sightings and still (at the time) researches the area.

Silver creek has always looked promising to me. I have tried camping overnight higher up but the water there is so noisy it drowns out everything. One of the sighting by a witness I talked to was along one of the rivers on the east side - quite possibly Silver. That area where the Harrison river empties from the lake isn't far from Morris Lake and sasquatch lookout (where Morris creek joins harrison river) which has had a very active century long history. I boated up Morris creek once (it's closed to power boats now I think) and there were lots of big sucking splashes around us which we assumed were beaver (lots of sign) but we never did see them so now am not so sure. What time of year have you had your experiences? I assume summer - the best boat camping time. My area of interest is north of 20 mile bay. It is a popular party spot on weekends and there is active log hauling during weekdays so boat camping during the middle of the week might not be disturbed by parties.

Hey guys, in 25 years of outdoor life the only time I ever came across anything was when I was kayaking on harrison lake at dusk about 5 years ago. It was a very definite vocalization and smell.
I reported it to someone here, and Tom Steenberg gave me a call, and I gave him all the details. It was on the cascade peninsula, more-or-less across the water from the old scout camp called Camp C. I think that the cascade peninsula would be a very promising place to look; now that there are some logging road on the top side, even moreso.
As you say, Long Island is amazing too. I have heard from a few people who fly out of the chilliwack airport that there is actually a small secluded lake up in the highlands of Long Island? I have never talked to anyone who went up there on foot though. In one of the smaller bays just south of long Island by there is an overgrown trail up into the highlands; it's marked with a sign that says "Billy's" I haven't been up there in a long while though, it may be totally unsuable now, but years ago it was a very good spot to wander.

Just wondering. How do you know it was a large rock thrown? Midnight, dark I'm assuming, did you actually see the rock being thrown, or at least the rock going through the air and hitting the water? Fish are much more active at night. I fish in the evenings alot, through dark. It's amazing how once the light is gone, and the darkness has taken over, the loud splashes of the feeding fish begins. I would think that this has to be taken into consideration. And really. Now BF whistles? Did you recognize the tune? I can just picture him, dancing a jig and whistling, as he hops his way through the dark forest, stopping to throw boulders into the lake. And once in awhile carve his initials into a tree. I've read that the locals of Harrison started the BF carvings and etc. to stimulate the tourism. This was told by the locals. And it definitely worked. I always tell people that one of the hottest areas is the Harrison area. I know nothing of this, it's just from all the publicity it gets. That said, a friend of mine who guides fishing in that area, told me an interesting story. He's not a big BF believer, just a down-to-earth outdoorsman. He was up on the river fishing by himself. Put his boat ashore, and began wading the river. He had made his way some distance down/up the river, I'm not sure which, enjoying the productive fishing. He said that, as he was wading along, a sudden, powerful feeling of being watched came over him. 'It made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up', is how he explained the feeling. He became so uneasy that he made his way out of the area, heading back to the boat. He doesn't tell the story as a BF story, but as a very strange, weird event that happened. A cougar could have produced that same feeling. Being watched, yet something very bad could possibly happen. Or, if BF is out there, it may have been a possible encounter. Besides just stories and reports, is there any conclusive, quality evidence to accompany any reports from the area?

Footprints! Documented footprints with no other logical explanation as to how they got there, or how they could have been produced.

There were quite a few sightings reported from that area as well, but only one as I know has two witnesses.

I think that John Myles has told me that there are three lakes on Long Island. I know of at least two alleged sightings on that Island and I personally have heard a loud sound come from there that I cannot explain.
On two occassions on the mailand across from Long Island ... I have personally seen two sets of good clear tracks ... one set was fresh and the other was old. There have been reported tracks seen on Long Island.

Bill, what kind of sound was it you heard? Is this the island you guys mean in Harrison Lake? There appear to be 5 small bodies of water on it. Let me know if you want anything zoomed in closer, it is all in hi-res on Google Earth now. I can post it for you here or email the image to you (or pm).

So is there anything to the rumor that there is going to be a highway built up the West side of Harrison Lake? Too bad the East side is still in low res... but maybe Bill likes it that way!

That plan to widen the Harrison West Road was scrapped. Both east side and west side roads are the size of highways anyway.
