Truly sad. To see a person go to the extent of wasting his entire life on an obsession. Rather than feed his family, he thought that it was more important to use every penny he had to pursue BF. Even though he never, ever found any concrete evidence, he still applied everything to this. If UFO's were his obsession, we'd all be agreeing that he were missing a few important pieces upstairs. What's kind of disheartening though, is the fact that he put in that much time end effort, and was unable to find any evidence. Makes one wonder, just what kind of chance do we have. I think what's more important, is to view it as a hobby and keep it fun. Enjoy the wilderness and the excercise from hiking around, and keep the hope that something might just be around the next bend or over the next hill. Myself, I've got a week-long trip up at Shuswap Lake starting tomorrow. Nothing but fishing and hiking. Then back to work for a week, before leaving on a two-week fishing trip up to the Yukon. I'll be keeping a close eye on the shorelines and riverbanks as we boat along. One never knows. Camera will always be within reach.

Well, you may find it to be sad. But I imagine that he never shed a tear over it. It was what he loved to do, all the highs & lows included, and he did a damned good job of it too. If anything, he inspired a whole new generation to continue the search, to pick up where he left off. I admire the man, he new what he wanted and he kept at it until fate broke his stride. And aye, keep the camera close at hand. You never know what you might come across, when out and about in the wild.

Well, I think it was wrong to pursue BF to the extent that you neglect family, and even someone who is going to save dying children in Africa if they neglect their family because of it is getting their priorities wrong, in my opinion.
Still, it is a shame that for all that he put into it he wasn't successful. Or was he. In that last clip where he says he wouldn't give up a body for a million bucks, even if he did find something, he might have been too stingy and paranoid to have shared it with the world. After all he sacrificed I can kind of understand that opinion, but I think it made him poorer.
