Yup, I sure did. Both cow and bull moose can very dangerous at certain times of the year. Hunting way up off the Alaska Highway one fall I happened upon (about 50 feet away from) a truly huge cow moose with a tiny redish-brown calf. Once mama moose spotted me her ears went down, the hair on her back stood up and I could see fire in her eyes. For a moment I figured it was going to be kill or be killed. I talked to the old cow moose in the most gentle and soothing voice I could muster up at the time. I guess she liked what I said because she gave a low grunt and her and the calf were soon headed for parts unknown.
Big bull moose can also be pretty mean during the fall mating season.

Lol I know!
A few years back my brother had a real brain freeze when he went to assure a big bull was out and it lept up and charged him, and if it wasnt for my Dad being on the ball and he wouldve been done!

My brother pulled one something like that up at Germansen Landing one fall. He shot a real big bull moose on the side of a trail. After the shot he waited a minute to see if the moose would move. All seemed safe so he 'set his rifle down against a tree' and proceeded to dress the moose. Well once the cold steel of the knife touched the moose he jumped to his feet and looked my brother square in the eye. I guess the moose decided my skinny brother wasn't worth pounding into the ground because he turned and headed back into the bush at top speed. My brother had to go change his pants after that experience. Needless to say he never leaned his rifle against a tree until he was sure the animal had met its maker after that.
