Is there much action out here? Any idea of numbers? I have read before about sightings around cowichan lake, and further north. The book was old and the sightings were from the 40's and 50's. I was wondering about more recent ones that i could maybe check out?

There was a late 2005 or early 2006 sighting report by a driver on the Alberni/Tofino road, but that's all the info I have.

:) I was on a holiday just south of Powell River, B.C. - with my two sons. We made a Sasquatch Encounter video for fun. It is available to be viewed on google video (search for Sasquatch Encounter). After doing some research I found out that there have been some actual sightings in that area.

There were reports on the lower Sunshine Coast last year. Upper Sunshine Coast has its share of reports as well. Think of the famous Ostman's case.

Alberni-Tofino Road is incredible for sasquatch sightings especially around Whiskey Creek. Incidents recorded from 2002-2005.
Also along Long Beach Road from Ucluelet to Radar Hill to Grice Bay (Indian Bay). At Grice bay screams like those at Chehalis have been heard on many occasions.
Strathcona Park on the island is where John Bindernagel found his first set of tracks.
The Cowichan area also reported sightings from the Duncan Indian Band in 2002 and Bindernagel was able to get a good track cast from the Indian reserve there.
