I personally prefer to research lake cryptids because 1) there's a finite search area (at least, somewhat more so than sasquatch in my opinion) to search for, 2) I love being near the water, 3) I just find aquatic life more interesting than those in the forest (no offense, I hope), 4) some of these lakes are really freaking deep, 400-800 feet in places. Not to mention 900-1,000 ft in places, so really if there are unidentified animals in these lakes, then they have pretty good spots to hide.
All of this is just my opinion. Research whatever makes you happy, right?

My view is: The more cryptids the merrier. Sasquatch, lake cryptids, Cadborosaurus, giant salamanders, thunderbirds and anything else that inhabits our province are all fair game to me. That way one does not get stuck in a rut when one field does not yield result because you can easily switch to another. A change of scenery always does the mind a world of good and will keep you happy rather than frustrated.

I agree, westerncanadian. For me, I can always switch to my writing as it gives an outlet to explore my creative side if the crypto-critters decide to lay low (which is more often than not).
