Warning, heavy on the photos and they're big! It is Spring Break here, and so I was looking around for something to do that was cheap but interesting. Found out online that we have some local caves nearby (Chipmunk Caves), so we spent an afternoon searching for them, and the next day exploring. Here are our pics: Chilliwack River again, different angle my daughter in the Pacific Coast Rainforest--well, a logged off one, you can tell the trees are pretty young Moss Mossy branches, it's really wet around here. There's tons of Sphagnum everywhere. Cave entrance. Apparently there are quite a few unknown caves in this area too. First crawl space Inside the first cavern, stalactites and other rock formations Me Again. Nice hat eh, borrowed it from Rog And I must say, it was DARK! The flash of course shows much better visibility than we actually had. It was spooky! My daughter at a branch in the tunnel, an upper and lower shelf Modern cave art Cave mouth Steps up to another cave entrance, too old and rickety for the likes of me! Hope you enjoyed! Just some comments, I thought this cave pretty shallow, no pit or anything, might be interesting if someone excavated a bit but probably it's been cleaned out every few decades by high water on the river. Not worth looking for bones in, in my opinion. But maybe some other caves are in that vicinity, especially if no one else has located them.
