All- Just a mandatory point to everyone that if you are a goin' on your own Sasquatch hunt you are very likely also in bear country. Extra precautions are necessary. Do your research on the countryside - here's a good start: www.mountainnature.com/Wildlife/Bears/A note from your Mother.

I am just pouring over Herrero's Book; Bear Attacks A wealth of information..this expert's reccomendations and insights might surprise not a few people, who think they already how how to act in bear country..and around bears. Great Stuff!

I would just roll up a newspaper hit the bear in the nose and say "BAD BEAR!!!"

If I can add this as well, bear spray is a close range alternative but I alway pack iron in bear country. Also if you are going to use something to defend yourself make sure you practice and practice alot, in a panic situation your liable to be a "little" less accurate
