I got back from Las Vegas last Thursday, and began reading "The Locals" by Thom Powell.
I must be honest, I expected more, and found it to be quite a disappointing book.
It started off well I thought. The first chapter was dedicated to the scientific method (and althouhg I studied history in college for 6 years, the scientific method, and historical method or not to dissimilar), and I found that quite helpful, and it was a good review.
As most of you have probably already read the book I won't go into detail, and many of you may disagree. But from approximately the middle to end chapters of the book, I felt that the author lost focus and began to meander a bit.
The information about the Skookom cast was excellent, and I had not read that before. Also, some of the "incidents" that the author presented were informative, and interesting, but I'm not sure they necessarily pushed forward the boundries of bigfoot research, or gave anymore information on the subject.

Lookit! I lost interest when I got to the part about the mind-reading Sasquatch which mentally communicates with you...and even makes threats, the same way! At that point I closed the book..and it has never been reopended since!

Lookit! I lost interest when I got to the part about the mind-reading Sasquatch which mentally communicates with you...and even makes threats, the same way! At that point I closed the book..and it has never been reopended since! It took me some time to push my way through it. The mind reading, mental threatening, shimmering in the distance stuff had me putting it down, and then picking it up again. Also that stuff directly contradicted the "Bigfoot is our friend in the wilferness..." chapter, concerning how bigfoot watches over us when we are in danger. Of oucrse that poor son of a gun in Utah last year that amputaed his arm with the pcoket kniwf is probably wondering where his gaurdian Sasquatch was. Jon

Holy Smokes! I was just going to order that book. NOT! Thanks for the review Jonz, and for the helpful words to back up the review, GrandCherokee.

Thanks guys for the conformation. I have wrestled with the idea of ordering this book and have heard negatives about it before and this sums it up for me. There are better books out there.

Thomas 1 Bigfoot Exposed 0 Thanks Glen i was stunned at that peace of work and the common assumptions made by a supposedly professional was very unprofessional indeed. I wrote a review of Greg Longs "The Making Of Bigfoot " as well , but I was expecting bad research in that case from the get go. Bigfoot exposed was a bit of a surprise. Thomas

I will agree that "The Locals" did not push the boundaries of Sasquatch research ahead that much, if at all. But I still found it to be an interesting book.

Thomas-
It seems that quite a few educated and professional people, have a problem with being outsmarted by some lower-class species. All the more power to the Bigfoot.
We'll see who's running for the tweezers and tools of the trade if something comes from the bush. If they don't have one, or can't get their hands on one, then it can't exist...that's their ideas of it. They'll push all involved out of the way, if the Sasquatch is uncovered though. Then the real fight begins! Then we'll all sit back with a coffee in our hands, and say...we told you!
