Hey all, just looking to engage with the community on here and hear some opinions.
So last week Monday evening, me and my lady felt like getting out of the house that night, nothing special just thought we'd pop up to my favorite lake up stave, Morgan Lake. I've been swimming and fishing (catch and release lake only for you fishing folks) that lake for 5 years now.
This visit we heard some noises, starting the story we arrived at the lake around 7:30 that night, there are only two shore access trails we were on the north one on the north west side of the lake (road side) the other one being south west which is visible from the beach we were fishing from. An hour went past no vehicle traffic since we arrived, lake was flat calm. We hear a large tree cracking sound, the cracking followed by the sound of the tree hitting the ground. We just shrugged it off, then about one or two minutes later we hear the unmistakable sound of a large rock entering the water from a vertical angle making that perfect satisfying "sploosh wooomf" sound, it echoed the whole lake.
Where we were you can see the entire lake except the north bay which was to our back left (north east) this was where the sounds were coming from. After the first sploosh we again just shrugged it off, not much talking between us just enjoying the quiet night. Then we hear the exact same large rock spoosh woomf sound about two minutes from the first and this time we both stand up and take the exact note of what we just heard. A few minutes later we hear it again, by this time we are trying to figure out what could be making this sound, I try and convince the lady to go walk to the other beach that is behind us in that north bay to try and see what was going on. In that short time we hear it a forth time, now I've had enough and need to see what the heck this was. We walk over to the other beach 30m away, and we see nothing no animals no people just the still quiet lake. We wait and watch for a bit but see nothing, the forest getting darker (8:45) and both of us creeped out we pack up and walk back up the trail to the road.
We were vary sure the sounds were coming from the other side as when you are at the second beach you can hear the inflow vary loudly, but you can not hear it on the other side so leading us to believe it must have bin across the bay for it to have echoed as loud as it did.
So my first thought was it must have been people but we heard no talking or other vehicles. As well as I've tried to walk around this lake looking for new fishing spots but had no luck with the horrible dense brush.
Other thought was a beaver but I've never seen any beavers at this lake,as well I've heard beavers and they make more of a slap not that perfect sploosh woomf sound.
Last thought is if this was a Sasquatch why the heck would it be a up stave, but you never know. anyone else have any other Stave lake stories?
