Lest I be called an armchair researcher, I Ihad a few hours free time and went for a drive tonight on Morris Road, well into the gravel part. What a very eery area it is. Didn't see anything unusual, except perhaps a couple of bowed saplings and a lot of big rocks on the side of the road. All the foliage beside the road is covered in dust.
Also there was a small truck on the road that had it's hood up, and had all the windows smashed in. Wierd. Just sitting on the road.
I was not courageous enough to stop the engine and do a bit of squatch calling. It was dark and spooky.
Anyone been up there lately?

The gravel section is the beginning of the Harrison west Forrestry Road. Follow that road all the way, you can find port Douglas and Little Harrison Lake. It joins the Lillooet Forrestry Road which will end up in Mt. Currie. The road is heavily used by 4 wheelers and campers, I would not bother too much with anything beside the main road, too much human activities. But it is the best road to hope for a road side sighting particularly after dark. That small truck now had its engine lifted. Still got some good tires and a okay canopy. A couple more week, there will be shot gun blasts through doors etc. Not wierd, just some people have no respect.

Well, that's what I was hoping for...nothing except a few shadows lurking behind the trees...

Hi Vilnoori, I am trying to set up a Harrison Night Run, will you be interested? We did this last year with some WCS members. It was great family fun. Most likely it will be a fri or sat night.
cheers, seb

I would, if it is late enough (after supperish). Got the little-uns to put to bed first. Might bring some of my girls along. Let me know what you set up. Anyone going to try a bit of sound? How about up at that lake up there? The beach? Rock knocking, that kind of thing? Singing? lol

Roads out there are quite inertesting. But for most side roads, you will need a 4WD. The main road is fine for cars. Actually right now when the salmons are running, it is a good idea to check out Morris Valley Road particularly near the Chehalis and Weaver fish hatcheries after dark. Those sections are paved. Last time when I went out to Hale Creek with Thomas, there was a black bear went across between our trucks. So chances of spotting at least something big is high.
cheers, seb

Jan 6th I took the kids tobogganing up at Hemlock. It was snowing buckets! Borrowed a 4wd truck and still landed in the ditch at one point. A kind bunch of passersby plus one big salt truck pulled me out. Continued on down and did a quick run up Morris Valley Road toward Harrison lake, just for the heck of it. There is a very cute little camp ground next to that tiny lake on the side of the road that would be a great place to knock some rocks together early in the morning and see what happens, maybe with some food gifts of some kind nearby--but not the kind that attract bears, though. Maybe come spring some time when I have free time (I never do, blah) or maybe in summer.
I did pass by some forested slough area on the way to Hemlock on Morris Valley Rd. that had some tin foil plates hanging from the trees. Is that one of you guys trying to play with attractants? I've heard that hanging up old CD's is a possibility too, the glitter is kinda fascinating. Someone is obviously playing around up there. Great place to do it, too.
I do wish I had more time to play...
