There are at least two different unknown bear species. McFarlene bear(s) could very well be polar/brown bear hybrid. The Siberian ones are more interesting. But I think it is just as easy as black bear evolving into something like that as Short face bears evolved into short legged. But what about the Skye's palaeo-polar bear? We know that they are not white in colour and they are probably out there roaming around.

I find it entirely plausible that Sykes bear and at least one more species may be roaming around the large expanse of Northern Asia and Northern North America

An interesting topic and its certainly plausible that several unknown species of ursids are tromping around in the worlds wilderness areas (North america would be a good environment for them as well as Siberia and the Himalayas). I'm thinking of loking into more of the lesser known cryptids, including these guys.

I seen a bear with wolf like ears , oddly it was a black bear with pointed ears.
Yes it freaked me out , I was on a overgrown logging road spur just outside of Port alberni city limits when the pointy eared Bear Stood up on his back legs from some Salal bushes no more then 20 feet away and Huffed at me then dropped to all fours concealed by the deep Salal and huffed and puffed more , I Yell but loud Yeeeahh Yeeeyahh and backed away backwards .. I could still hear it puffing , freaked me out , I had a 10 inch blade in my hand.
Did I mention I hate bears ?.. I hate Bears.

Just for the record Sykes' bear turned out to be a modern species and not the long though extinct hybrid that he thought
When he original results where peer reviewed they found his mistake Like a true scientist Sykes reviewed the peer study and acknowledged that they were correct

When he original results where peer reviewed they found his mistake Like a true scientist Sykes reviewed the peer study and acknowledged that they were correct He's definitely an excellent example of the much-needed scientific and common-sense view that's needed when investigating cryptid sightings and stories..... If ONLY ALL 'researchers' were like this.... *sigh* One can only dream, eh?
