Yes sir.
What distance would you estimate you were from the subject when you saw it?
100 to 200 yards away.

Blackish brown.
What was your first impression?
I thought I was hallucinating. (Laughs).

I was shocked. My first words to myself were what the $%&@$# was that, (Laughs).
What was it doing?
It was running across the highway.
Was it moving the whole time it was in view?
Yes sir.

Yes sir.

Yes sir.
Did you ever see it go down on all fours?
No sir. It was not a black bear. It was something on two feet.
How tall would you estimate the subject to have been?
Close to 7 feet.
How do you come to that estimate?
The way I could see it through my windshield, I didn’t have to look down at it, and didn’t have to look up at it, it was directly in view. If I had been beside the creature what ever it was, it would have been looking directly at me through the window, face to face it would have been looking at me. It was very tall.
How much do you think it weighed?
Oh guessing, 350 pounds?
How long did you see it for?
3 or 4 seconds, maybe a little longer?
Did it have any reaction?
No, it glanced while it ran, the way it happened, it happened so fast, it glanced and it ran and like I said it took 5 strides across a double lane highway and was into the bush.
Which highway was that again?
Highway 29.
Could you see any facial features?
No sir I didn’t it was too quick.
Could you tell if it was male or female?
No I could not sir.
Did you see the arms?
I noticed that when it was striding that its hands went below its hips. It had long arms. Other than that broad shoulders, long arms, I really couldn’t see much eh.
Did it make any noise?
No sir. I wouldn’t be able to hear it anyway, I’m in the truck with the window closed.
Did you smell anything before during or after?
No sir. I was going to fast down the highway, I didn’t even have the chance to stop to investigate for prints or anything.
You didn’t stop?
I didn’t want to take the chance, because I didn’t know if it was dangerous or what. Know what I mean?
Did you report what you saw?
I reported to the guys at F-------,( Company name withheld), this is how I got your phone number, the guys who research on the computer have your name and gave it to me so I good report this to you.
Was that Sasquatchsightings.ca, Jason Cain web site?
Yes sir.
Steenburg Note: Originally this incident was reported to researcher Jason Cain on his web site by a gentleman whom I believe our witness talked to in Tumbler Ridge. I know Jason was trying to contact the man who filed the report during the time between the incident and this interview.
Did you report this to anyone else?
No sir.
What I mean is RCMP or anyone like that?
No. They would think I was nuts and put me in an institute. People kind of shy away from you when you mention stuff like this.
Where they’re any other witnesses?
No sir.
You were the only one in the truck?
Yes sir.
What do you think it was?
I think it was a Sasquatch to be honest with you.
You are convinced of that?
I am convinced, yeah, I am convinced. I watched a lot of stuff about Sasquatch on T.V and such, when I was a child, really young my wife heard my mom mention about it. (General topic) we lived in North Surry BC and we used to go up to Crows Lake, and my whole family, if they were alive would tell you we seen one there standing on the side of the road and it didn’t move. It stayed right there, ok. So I do think it was a Sasquatch.
Have any of your friends or family members ever had an incident like this before?
Yes. A long, long time ago. Yes.
When and were?
Oh god I couldn’t begin to remember I was just a kid, I was only 7 or 8 years old when it happened. I know it was up by Crows Lake.
So this would be back in the 1970s?
Yeah. Around 72 or 71.
Have you ever made a report of this type at any time, to anyone else?
No sir I haven’t.
Are there any other physical characteristics of the subject, which stand out in your memory?
Yeah it was big, it was tall, and it walked on two feet.
So you only saw this subject for a few seconds as it crossed the highway in front of you?
Yes, it ran across sir.
It was running the whole time?
It was striding. It was a stride, not like a full run, it was striding.
It was moving pretty fast?
I was amassed how fast it went across the highway. I’m stating like I um, this is the truth, it took 5 or 6 strides to cross that highway and it was gone. It wasn’t jumping and it wasn’t a full run it was you know? I don’t how else to explain it. You would have to be there to understand. I have 20/20 vision sir and my eyes don’t play tricks on me. I don’t drink and I don’t take drugs. I wasn’t hallucinating something like that. Like my first words to the guys at F------- were “Your going to think am smelling gas or on some wild stuff but I seen something run across the highway today that was on two feet and it was no black bear”.
Was that fellow named (Withheld from report)
Steenburg note: I asked if the man he spoke to was the same man who reported this to Jason Cain.
I think so.
At this point we just got into a long conversation about how he found out about myself, and I suggested that from now on he should carry a camera with him while driving his truck. He laughed and told me, “That’s what my wife said”! He also felt that some people should come out to the location and have a good look around even though he couldn’t say the exact point of highway 29 the subject was seen.
