I want to start this off by saying that I in no way think that this had anything to do with sasquatch This happened during the last week of September while I was hunting up at Pink Mountain One of my hunting partners was sitting near a clearing about 800 to 1000 meters away from me as the crow flies, he was also at least 30 meters higher in elevation I had to drive about a km down the road from where he walked into to where the road Y'd then drove up the spur and walked into the bush about 75 meters and settled down I was siting along 1 ridge that had a few other ridges running parallel to it. About an hour later I heard something walking along one ridge over towards my partner. I could not move or see what was there.
About a half hour later I heard something else walk the same route as the last one only this time it was making donkey sounds. The thing was it sounded like a person that was trying to imitate a donkey
About a half hour after dark I walked back to my quad then drove back to camp.
After dinner my friend said, man that was weird When I asked him what he told me that something walked by him just out of sight that sounded like a person trying to imitate a coyote. Then about a half hour later something else walked the same trail and sounded like a person trying to imitate a donkey
Of course we all started making jokes about sasquatch

PART TWO That night we go to bed We are sleeping in a 23 foot travel trailer, my friend is sleeping in his own bedroom and my brother and I are sleeping in the two fold down beds in the living/kitchen area
About 4:30 AM I wake up to a weird sound (my brother noticed I was awake and said that this was going on for over 45 minutes ) You would hear a "bang, bang, bang" like two pieces of wood being banged together, it only lasted 2 or 3 seconds then it would be silent for 5 or 10 minutes then start again but in a different location
The sound was about a 100 meters away in the bush My brother said it was slowly circling our camp It was pitch black outside and we could not see any lights through the windows My brother had been trying to see what was making the noise since he first heard it
We both listened and watched for about a half hour It was constant 2 or 3 seconds of banging followed by 5 or 10 minutes of silence
We then opened the door and tried looking around We didn't see or hear anything after we opened the door
I have no idea what it was, I have hunted all my life and have heard deer, moose and elk rattle many times over the years and have never heard anything like it
This was only my third time hunting there but my brother and our friend have hunted there since the mid 1980's
Since it was way to dark to walk around out there without lights or night vision, I can only assume that it was an elk or moose doing some rattling in a way I have never heard before and not bugeling or grunting

So a little update Today I was talking to my brother about this year's Pink Mountain trip (i couldn't go this year) He said the knocking happened again this year but it only lasted for about fifteen minutes Also he told me that two years ago two of our group where picking wild strawberries when something screamed at them from behind some bushes Fred has hunted foe over 50 years and has done African safaris and been to the base camp of Mt. Everest and he has never heard anything like it So it seems like three years in a row something funny has happened up there

Were you the only ones at/on Pink Mountain that night? Because that aspect has me curious.....why would a person, all the way up a mountain, would start imitating a donkey sound, to be confirmed by another inidividual? And why would they then switch to a coyote sound? I recommend talking to your pal to see if further activity has taken place recently and do an investigation. Interesting story.

The Blue Berry ranch is a few miles away and the area is quite popular with hunters We didn't see anyone else up there but I would not state with any conviction that we where alone
We have had a few strange events happen up there over the years, but nothing conclusive

in case its Sasq you could try forcing his hand camp for a month in that spot in the same month as the encounter?
From what I understand a hardhat could prove useful if your able to annoy a Sasquatch sufficiently

I wonder what other explanations there are.....could be a donkey which, by some freakish fluke, has lost its way. How far away was Blue Berry Ranch? to add on: COULD a donkey even have made it that far? Those are questions I have on my mind.
Mother Nature certainly is a strange one....

Yes a donkey could have made it that far There are ranches within about 30 to maybe 20 minutes drive away
During the summer a far number of atv'ers and motorcycle riders spend their weekends in the area
The same trip I had that encounter we had a paraglider land in the little clearing near us and drag his gear into the middle of our camp to fold it up He almost had a heart attack when I popped out of the trailer to see what he was doing (by then his group of friends showed up)
