Stroud's encounter must be relatively new, because I sent him an email in 2005 asking if he had ever come across anything Sasquatch-related & he said the only thing that stood out were some strange vocalizations he heard once.

Aloha Richard, I heard this interview earlier this year and it is pretty cool. I am very dismissive of all the reports where people claim that they have heard a sasquatch. The simple truth is that most sounds are easily explained by woodpeckers, owls and coyotes. Few people these days have enough time in the bush to even identify sounds. In fact, I have a recording of a Barred Owl that you would absolutely swear is a monkey. And I know that the exact same sounds are on various websites as proof of sasquatch's proximity. I like Les's report, because he has a lot of time in the woods. He would be quite familiar with the sounds that owls and bears make. The incident happened here Google Map

Jason - I agree, he is one of the few people I trust in terms of bush skills here in Canada ... after all he spent the first year of his married life in a house he and his wife built by hand, using tools and gear from the 1800s ... He is one cool dude. Sean, I too would love to hear that story!! Richard.

Would love to hear that story Sean! Sure thing. I printed off the email & have it in one of my binders (they all go by the year the contents were recieved). I'll dig through them and see if I can find it.

Well, I went through my binders & after alot of searching (I need to get my reports in better order.....) I found the email.
And as far as vocalizations go, I don't put alot of faith in them. Unless I see what is making the sound, then I have no proof it was Sasquatch-related. But Les Stroud lives and breathes the wilderness, I am pretty confidant that he would recognize a sound made by a known animal. ..................................................................................................

Me: First off, I want to say that Survivorman is one of my favorite programs.
Les: Fantastic and thank you very much.
Me: Now, here is my question: Have you ever, while out on one of your excursions experienced anything that you could say was related to Sasquatch (Bigfoot)? Hearing something following you on a parallel course, stopping whenever you stop? Detecting any foul odors that could not be explained? Having the feeling of being watched/observed by something you could not see? Hearing strange sounds or vocalizations that you could not attribute to any known animal? Or have you ever observed a Sasquatch (Bigfoot) while out in the wilderness? Or any other occurrence that could not be explained away as being caused by humans, animals, or nature?
Les: I really wish I had -but nope- have never yet seen/felt/heard any evidence of a sasquatch.......other than one night on the Moon River where I heard some incredibly loud, awful hideous screaming and moaning - my friend and I ran out of the bush in the dark that night.
I am hoping that with all my time with a camera in my hands that I would one day be the first to capture it on film -but no luck so far.
Take care,
Les.

As of 2005, that is the only thing Sasquatch-related that Les Stroud experienced.
*Note: The bolding was mine, to highlight what he considered as a possible experience.

Thanks for sharing that Sean.
It would have been cool if he would have been able to film whatever animal was making the sounds.

Thanks for sharing that Sean. It would have been cool if he would have been able to film whatever animal was making the sounds. Agreed. But it seems like he was in more of hurry to vacate the area. lol

I could very well but I guess without being there we will never know for sure. Part of me would say yes he did hear a bear - however the other part of me would like to think he did hear Bigfoot. After all if he can be fooled what chance do the rest of us have?

Interesting video! That was a good find Paul. Of course there is no way of knowing if that is what Les heard -- but it is a possible explanation -- as is sasquatch!
