i've searched briefly and can't see that this is already on here. it must be somewhere, but i can't find it.
what is your take on this story? the guy apparently shot and killed an adult and young (40 lbs) bf while bear hunting.
and of course, as usual, he just left their bodies. he's since returned and conveniently, they aren't there anymore. but, he supposedly cut a bf steak from one and submitted it for dna testing. he could have just as easily carried the baby one out.
he won't reveal anything hardly, yup, there's a book in the works. everyone has to wait and buy the book he says.
this wreaks so badly of complete bs. no hair samples, no pictures, no prints, nothing. the "steak" will undoubtedly come back as "unknown species" to continue his hype.
the bottom line, this is such a weak, weak story. nothing can be proven or determined.
i'm surprised this story is even getting "any" attention. a guy shoots and kills two bf and all he presents is a steak? it doesn't even make any sense. he must think the world is as ignorant as he is. at least put in some effort and make a believable story.

I think that the thread on this over on the bff is something like 200 pages long. As far as I am concerned you could have a live sasquatch in your personal zoo, but as long as you were telling people about it and not allowing access to it, then it really means nothing to the outside world in terms of evidence.
Personally I am inclined to file this story in file cabinet # 13

File cabinet # 13 is also the round file cabinet (yes the garbage can ) I stand corrected - same place. I often file it in Cabinet 13 at work:d. Really amazes some people when their lovely document gets taken in hand directly to the file shredder, shredded and I sit back down without uttering a word ... usually drives the point home

Anyones opinions change on this subject?
I for one actually believe this incident may have actually happened. I speak to a few people that are closely involved with this, via email, text and phone quite frequently. I have built up pretty good relationships with them over the last couple years, and they firmly believe that this incident happened, and that soon it will be proven that it did happen.
Just wondering what everyones thoughts are...................the sierra kills, Ketchum DNA study......ect......

Kokanee, I must say that I have not seen an ounce of evidence that would prove it could have happened. In fact I would say the opposite is true, there has been a lot of it proven false that I cannot see how the story could be true. If you have anything that you would share as proof I'd be happy to see it - otherwise, it is under G or Cabinet #13.

Richard,
I'm curious to know what has been proven to be false?
My information may not be evidence, but it sure points in the direction. The fellow that runs one of the most popular bigfoot blogs (which their posts are linked here all the time) has become a good friend of mine over the last couple years. We started by just sharing emails, I would send him ideas for posts, links to pic and videos......... and it has lead to a good friendship. We talk on the phone at least a few times a month for hours at a time, and text back and forth as he out and about doing his own investigatons.
My friend has spoken and got to know real well Justin Smeja, and while at first being very skeptical about a year ago...................has come to actually believe the story. My friend has spent countless nites/weekends with him, and tells me, the guy isn't lying. My friend has been part of the interviews that TeamTazorBigfoot has completed and are still doing, and is currently at the "kill site" helping to complete a documentry about the incident.
Their documentry won't be released until the DNA study comes out. Although, something tells me they already know something, but would not be allowed to say because of the "neverending, ...... heard a thousand times"stupid "NDA". If I know him well enough, he wouldn't put his life on the line. He is from the same situation I am. Married, 33, 3 youngs kids and always doing what you have to do to make a buck..............but maintaining your integrity.
Also when the whole "NDA" was going around last fall, and some talk was going on that the study was going to publish "frickn soon........then soon.....then soon" a few of us commenters on this "bigfoot blog" got together through email and wanted to start creating a campain on awareness of sasquatch through a website. We exchanged many ideas and information about how a subject like this should be approached. We got into hunting regs for all states/provinces, collecting knowlage and evidence trying to come up with what the ideal habitats were, and also what to do in a situation if you were to encounter a sasquatch. (tough thing to do when there not a science book on it, but u have to start somewhere, and make adjustments as you go......... kinda like evolution theory.........hehehe thats for another day)
My involvement with this project only lasted pretty heavily for about a month, until time and dedication became a factor for me. I have a small business and a young family, and I did not want o lose anything over this. But I still did, and do keep in touch with the creator and editor for this website in washington state, and I have seen the first 4 pages they had designed and the abundance of information they had gathered from researchers all over both countires (canada/US) is incredible. I know that this person in washington, shortly after I told him I couldn't commit the time neccessary, was reached by the authors of the paper..........and since then he hasn't been able to say much. But we do keep in touch.
Thats my story.
Now, I could be gettin taken for an incredible ride. But, to me, the people that I have met, and even the people I've read about that are involved in this..........either are trying to create the biggest hoax in history......................and would get nothing for it...........(actually would probably end up being charged because of all the science involvement, extortion and from what I have heard......university testing facilities would be after them with full force) or this is gonna be the real deal.
IMHO, there seems to be so may good people that had nothing to gain from this. They (as a group) have dumped hundreds of thousands of dollars into this, and if its a hoax will see absolutely no return and will have a tarnished resume for the rest of their existance. To have people from all over north america, involved in one massive..........breakhough study/video/documentry to me lends this story more credibility. And to me, the Seirra kills started it all.....................and right now there seems to be alot happening around Justin Smeja. People want to be with him, and spend money on him. For what? ........a Hoax

I am hunting for the site I got it from ... Of course I cannot locate it - there were apparently problems with his various interviews (namely no continuity) and facts just didn't add up. As I cannot currently locate them, I ill have to withdraw/retract that part of my statement. I hope for your sake that it is legit - and for BFs that it isn't... Let me ask you then - want evidence do you have to support his claim? Richard

I know, I know.
What I said previously is definately not evidence. Its just my own personal feeling/opinion of what happend and what I think is going to happen based on information (not evidence) that I have collected.
I'm definately with you on the killing aspect though, if it did happen, what a cowardly and cruel killing! I would hope that if it is proven, some form of severe charges could be laid. The way he described it in the last video taped interview is absolutly disgusting.
As far as the DNA study goes, I hope it comes together for them, and I hope that the people that put their reputations and dollars on the line, get to see some sort of return on their investment. It is an amazing thing to accomplish with-out funding from government or science.
Anyways, off to Cultas with the fam.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Smeja can't keep his story straight. He has categorically said that first he shoot it in the back and then he shot it in the front. Which was it? He did not shoot it from both directions. His whole story smacks of something made up.
The so called tissue that was submitted was ascertained by Jeff Meldrum to have underhair. Primates don't have underhair, coyotes do and Jason Smeja has a freezer full of them.
This story is highly dubious and I for one stopped pursuing it a long time ago.

From the only two live interviews that Mr.Smeja has given, the one radio interview about a year ago, and the one on one with Ro from TTB, to me the storys seem to stay the same. When I read what peoples interpretation, or what people have reported, the story seems to stray a bit both ways.
The one major difference between the two interviews he has given, is the detail he goes into on how he killed the young one......very disturbing.
I'm still given this one a good chance

I watched a 58 minute interview with Smeja on Youtube last night. He may be lying or he may be telling the truth, that wasn't what I took issue with. I took issue with the total carelessness he had when it came to hunting, poaching, and firing on something that he half-thought was a human in a ape suit. He also said that he shot the adult, but couldn't find it. So he then shot one of the juviniles instead. This also disgusted me, if you feel the need to shoot at something, they you search for it afterwards. You do not immediately shoot another creature because its "easier". If I ever had any respect for the guy, its was gone after listening to him being interviewed. This is exactly the type of person we do not need representing Sasquatch enthusiasts. I just saw 11min of this thing ... and had to turn it off - I just couldn't listen to the SOB any further.
He openly admits that his friend was yelling at him not to shoot - he himself says "it didn't look right" and yet not only took the shot, but a 2nd one as well.
The joke is, he claims to work for the Fish and Game Dept, and that reporting him wouldn't get anyone far ... let's see about that (I have been reading that people are already starting the needed paperwork).
Really, this guy should be ignored ... my ONLY hope (I suspected as John mentioned he IS full of it - as his stories do change) that *IF* (BIG IF) he did kill a Bigfoot that its death will not be in vain and that it can prove that they exist.
However, I still think he is full of it, and I certainly hope he has what is coming to him.
