My friend from Bella Coola just emailed me this:
Hey Seb, Not sure if you heard about this yet but last monday they saw a sasquatch down at the lilly ponds just before you enter the Bella Coola town center. They also heard them hollering around down there! --------------------
There you go, a sasquatch sighting right in Bella Coola Downtown! I will head up there this July, so I will check out the details.
Cheers, seb

So I emailed back to my friend and my friend replied:
"Hey Seb,
Well in Bella Coola people seldom officially report sightings because they happen so often. They usually just talk about it with their friends. I'll have to ask who actually saw the Sasquatch but people were talking about it last week at the hatchery. They were saying someone saw it in the wooded area in the ponds before you get into town. Later that night they also heard the sasquatches howling around and hitting rocks together in the mountain. There are a lot of sightings of them around here, I guess people see them almost as much as they see bears around here! You'll deffinately get a lot of stories when you come in during July!"
I have finalized my July trip and I will be in Bella Coola from July 12th or 13th, 2009 till July 16th or so. Anyone who like to join us, and reply here. We can meet up at Williams Lake and go down the Hill together. We will camp out at the Bella Coola RV park.
cheers, seb

How many people were you planning on joining up with you? Are you thinking of backpacking around the area?

Me and Rachael are going down to the Valley on the 12th of July. We will only stay there a couples of days. We will stay a RV park with a trailer. My friend told me that people can hear the howling sound by the government wharf around 2:00 am. May be I will drive around there at night. I also know some people there. I want to get all the stories this year. If there is much going on, I may return in August.

Go get em Sebastian!!!
I just hope they're not mistaking the howling sounds for coyote or wolf howls, or owls hooting during the night. Plenty of such wildlife can be found in the Bella Coola area.

Don't know much about your "Friend" but as rastaman suggested I hope he/she knows the diiference between Calls possible originating from a Bigfoot, and perhaps a group of teenagers out on their "Wet Grad" night hootin & Hollering at the Moon. LOL

They seldom report because they happen so often? They see sasquatch as much as they see bears? Come on now! That's absolutely absurd!! Surely you're not foolish enough to fall for that. So, if they see them that often, then where are all the photos and video footage? Oh that's right, they're so common around there that they're just everyday animals. No big deal. They heard howls and banging rocks. They never saw the rocks being banged together or what the howls were coming from, but it's gotta be a sasquatch? I believe in speculation first. If the story still holds water, then I'll open my mind to the possibilty of it's validity. But the typical I saw this and heard that, is just not enough. How about at least a track? Something! I sure wouldn't be making any trip without at least a little bit of evidence. I understand your position though, as it's a friend telling it to you. I too would take a friend's word with credibility. Well, not all my friend's. But yeah, a friend's story would mean more. Then again. Your friend didn't have the sighting or hear the sounds. They were second-hand to them. I'm sure you'll get lots of stories though. But take them with a grain of salt, 'cause many will surely be just that, stories. I'm curious though, are there any cases with any evidence that have come out of that area? What you should be doing, is parking your trailer up in the woods. Hope you find something up there.

On Google Earth it looks like a very beautiful valley, with areas of old growth to boot. Well worth the trip, whether or not you find sasquatch signs. Have a great time! I'm envious!

I have lived in the valley for over a year now and am out virtually everyday actively looking. The wave of recent sightings is certainly news to me, but will ask around (I have friends who work at the hatchery and within the Nuxalk First Nation)... Whereas I have heard many first and second hand testament, this is the first sighting since my time here that I am aware. My only experience is a (possible, but by no means definate) distant wood knocking and a partial print, which I did photograph with my lens cap for scale, but I don't think is even viable enough to post here. Obviousily I have gained a wealth of local knowledge in the past year , and would be glad to assist those coming here in July. The area mentioned just before downtown Bella Coola is adjacent to the estuary which has been a hot spot at dawn and dusk in the past, however, my investigations have lead me to focus on another area which EVERYONE local claims to be certain sasquatch territory. This sighting does warrant some follow up validation which I shall begin to undertake, but if anyone is interested in focusing on the other area, a nocturnal trip should be looked into with more people. Afterall, this is bella Coola valley. Don't forget your bearspray....

Where's the other area claimed to be a certain "Sasquatch territory"? How far away?

It is an area known locally as Canoe Crossing; about 35km east of Bella Coola.
