Actually, his coming forward to the investigators after he saw the newspaper story made his story more convincing...as he had told another about his encounter days before the story appeared in the paper. And this was verified in the report.

Sorry if there is another thread elsewhere on this topic, but what happened was that after the story ran in the Chilliwack Progress telling of a man and wife coming down Mt. Archibald and having a large biped crossing the road in front of them ... another individual contacted the newspaper about him also seeing a bi-ped on Archibald earlier than night.
The reporter that did the first story then contacted me right away and Steenburg and I met the witness on Archibald. One of the questions put to him was 'Who else had he told of his sighting and when?' He said that he told his sighting to people right away on the same night.
Knowing that almost three weeks had passed before the Progress ran the first story ... I had Steenburg call the man's witness to hearing him tell of his sighting before the witness could contact them. It appeared to have happened as the witness had told us. Immediately after returning home ... he had told his mother. Our impression was that the two of them had been truthful in their answers to us about the events of that night. It seemed to be too much of a stretch to believe that one witness made up a story and told people about his alleged sighting three weeks before the newspaper first ran the story of the other witness and who didn't even know one another.

Personally I think this is one of the strongest witness accounts of sasquatch to date, and I'm proud that it happened right here in the valley.
