Just caught the end of a BBC news item a couple of days ago, apparently there have been large footprints found in northern India, also some hair samples collected. These are being analyzed by the British, and preliminary results are supposed to be announced very soon as a possible new specie. Anyone see the whole report ?????

I am in touch with the Indian search team and they are doing a terrific job despite the fact that they have no money or resources. Dipu Marak is their lead investigator and he has diligently tracked this animal for close to a decade. These guys are the real deal and all we are waiting for is the DNA analysis from Oxford which will indiacte whether the sample is from any know animal.
The actual hairs have so far not been identifiable with any known species and DNA from an unknown animal would add more impetus to the search for Mande Burung as the creature is known. I will be in India in October and hope to talk to Dipu on the phone to see what news they have.
If time allows, I may actually got Meghalaya in March to spend a few days in the Garo Hills looking for this thing myself.
