I also emailed chrissie who also sounded like she might be going. She also hasn't posted since August.
Kinda hard to contact S and R and give them someone's user names...does anyone on here know their real names?
Well we'll wait and see if there is a reply to the emails.

So far no reply. This is sort of ominous. I wish I knew their real names! Gerry, do you have any further info on them and can check up on them?

Hey there, i tried e-mailing both privately on here as well as through the email address given on his profile regarding the camping expedition near Golden. I had no response. I haven't received any mail whatsoever, either here or via my mail account given on my profile. Please do feel free to contact Gerry if you would like to get a hold of me. My name is Chrissie

Hi all, I am alive and well. Wow, what a trip. I managed to get seperated from the rest of the party, and spent a night on my own, and it was very chilly, at night, the ground was frozen by the time dawn was breaking. As soon as I get rested I will post a write up of the events of the trip. Though myself and my friend, Larson, had a very strange experience on the 3rd night, I can't say we have any sort of luck of capturing a looky-loo, photo, castings, etc of the big hairy fella. All in all, it was beautiful out there, we had a lot of fun, some great exercise, and saw plenty of wildlife. I'll be back on the board tomorrow night with some fallow-up postings. Steve

Also, I apologize for any worry I caused with you all, but I assure you everyone came back together and in one piece.

Well, we ended up driving around the stave lake pass, aposed to taking a boat across the Pitt Lake. Fallowed up by a 2 day hike, we decided to stop in a valley, for several reaons, one being that for some reason the sat.phone, and the 3 gps devices we had would not work, and also we found evidence of som rather large game in the area and though we see what we could stir up. After much debate we seperated into 2's, and all camped at varying positions always within 500-600m's from eachother. Now, as for myself getting lost like the numbnuts I am, this started out a bit spooky. Niether me, or Larson, could really believe or understand what it was, but something large, and taking no care to conceal its presence began to stalk us the fallowing morning as we went for a hike down the valley. After playing a cat and mouse game we decided we didnt want to get too close to it. So we picked up our pace, and so did it. This is when I lobbed a warning shot up the hill and I could see the sillouette of something coming toward us. I fired a 3 shot volley from my .303 (thus doubling that I might need help, 3 shots lets ppl know you may be in distress) and turned and ran with larson at my tail. After running till my lungs burnt, I stopped hit the ground and readied my rifle, only to realize I had lost Larson. Oops. So an unerving night on my own in the morning staying close to the creek, I made a nice big fire and my amigos came and got me. Apart from that strange experience, and a rock that came out of the hill above (which I did not witness) no evidence of a primate, or any apex predators I know of. A lot of animal activity, we have some pics of large tracks along a ridge across from our general camping area. Several times I got that feeling of being watched that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The rest of the trip was more enjoyment and relaxation that research. I did track and get almost close enough to touch a doe and her 2 fawns. Took a while, of making eye contact, coming closer, making calls, and letting them know I was there and wasn't a predator. I am awaiting pictures from my friends, my camera got broken before I could use it, lol. Everyone of us had a great time, and by the time we left we were very exuasted, and for myself, feeling rejuvinated, I always feel great after staying in the woods for a while. Oh and in case anyone asks, I'm guessing I didn't land any shots on whatever that was that scared the s**t outta me, and I'm a good shot, but no corpse, barley a trail with tracks that could be fallowed, and no blood whatsoever. I nice forestries warden and an rcmp officer met us on our return trip and were tring to accuse me of poaching, even though we had no animal remains with us. They could grasp why anyone would take such a trip, and they laughed when we told them why...

Wow, really interesting! Looking forward to pictures! I'd say that trip was a success! Can you give us the coordinates where the stalk and sillouette occurred so we can look at it on Google Earth?

Steve, glad you guys made it out but indiscriminate shooting without a clear threat is a bit ... well you know. Re the RCMP and warden and poaching ... that's weird. Two weeks ago I and my brother headed over the Hope/Princeton highway for some camping near Cathedral Lakes park. On the way I pulled off at some trail head (sorry, didn't get the name) but earlier this year I thought I noticed a 'broken/twisted' tree that I wanted to show my brother. It could be or not, I don't know. We weren't in the parking lot for more than 10 minutes, saw the tree (8" around) and were just about back on the highway heading east when a big blue PU truck stops, flashing lights are activated (a dog kennel/box in the back) and a big officious looking guy jumps out of the truck, walks up to my open driverside window and asks if we'd been hunting. Not even so much of a question, more like a statement. I just looked at him quiet like, hoping he'd come to his senses real quick. I answered 'no' ... guess he didn't notice we were in a smart car packed to the nuts with camping gear silly guy. However my guess is that they've had some issues with poaching in the area. I couldn't believe this guy even asked me though, hahaha.

lol I'm trying to envision a smart car with a buck strapped to the top! I guess you could take out some bear paws, if that's what he was thinking. You can always say you were hunting for mushrooms. That's still legal.

CYMRU101...... Followed daily your well laid out plans for this camping trip, and I must say it was done down to the nth degree, I have rarely seen such eagerness and enthusiasm and forethought to cover all scenarios, ----- Congrats!! on a well organised trip, but now, --- the warning shot, I can live with, ----- the three other shots at "you don't know what" because you couldn't make out what it was ------- is not what I expected.!!!!!
