Hi all, a couple buddies and I are planning one of our summer get-aways, and since on the topic lately, I thought I would offer for people to come with should they want to perhaps try and research the area that many people including myself, find mysterious, and has a good chance of showing evidence of Sasquatch.
So far it will be myself, my nephew, my brother, and an old army buddy. I personally invite as many as 10 more people to come along.
We are still planning the logistics and will take at least a week or two more of looking over old gps co-ords, and some map planning, but we will be departing from either Pitt, or Stave lake.
We will be taken to the Northest most point by boat(if we go Pitt lake) or by driving (if we go stave) from there we will make camp for the first night, and then set out to the north staying primarily near the lower ends of the mountains near the water supply.
There will be no fee for anyone who should wish to come along, we jsut ask that you come prepared.
Now, this camping trip is not JUST for Sasquatch research, but we are all interested, and since we will be going into an area that is known to be risky, we offer to escort people through there, safety in numbers. We will have a Satellite phone with us in case of emergencies along with at least one GPS navigator device, and several low-range civilian style communication radios.
-Firearms: IF, someone should wish to bring a weapon with them, I discourage lots of guns on these kind of trips, but if someone where to bring one, I would like to know ahead of time, and I don't want to see any dangerous or irresponsible use, remember to never point a weapon and anything that you are not willing to destroy, always look past what you are aiming at, and I won't tolerate any threatening of a human with a firearm.
No criminal use, please if you would like to bring your rifle, for all of our safety I would like to know that you have either taken your safety course and have a PAL, or you work with law enforcement/have military experience, etc.
All in all pack with you what you can carry, you will have to provide most of your own food, and please, if you would like to accompany us, you are more than welcome so long as you take the time to think ahead about what you should bring, your conduct in nature, and if you are heathy enough to take a trip like this.
-I assume no legal responsibility, but I can tell you that we all go home together. Noone is to be left behind, and noone is to go out alone. Remember, this is tough terrain, mountain weather is unpredictable, and we will at the middle point of our trek be several days away from civilization.
-Alocohol: If you wish to bring liquor with you, please be resonsible, and think hard about what you bring, I cannon stress this enough! 20lbs of booze might be fun, but thats 20lbs of rations you could have brought for yourself.
If anyone with experience in the area would like to come you are more then welcome and your input would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone with first-aid/medical experience would be a great choice.
Oh and, we are planning for 7 days trip, our deadline is 8 days, after that people will be declaring us missing. This is for safety reasons, if everyone were to agree ahead of time to stay out longer, then we would have someone check at the 7 day mark (in case of emergency and we are cut early) and at the agreed deadline, then the next day. After 24 hours late we will be "missing" and people may or may not come looking for us.
Which brings me to my final point, once a group final discussion is done, and we calculate our path, and final destinations, and estimates of whereabouts of any/all campsites, we will be giving the imformation ahead of time to trusted friends and faxing a copy to the RCMP search and rescue teams, as well as local fire department.
I will make a final note that we will be passing through a lot of prime territory that many people seem to suspect as sasquatch migration routes. So if you want to go, lets get in contact becuase I know it's not very often that people go out there and this is a good chance. Best wishes and though this may be an odd suggestion, but if any females wish to come, I would discourage you from doing so for safety reasons if you are either pregnant, or menstrating at the time. Sorry if that request offends anyone, it isn't meant to but being realistic, if we all go, I want to take every precaution that everyone comes home healthy, happy, and alive, regardless of predators, pitfalls, weather, etc. Good "Squatch hunting" all and feel free to get in contact with me either from this board or via Live messenger or e-mail. Remember, folks, safety safety safety!
