Poor quality video that's really hard to see what it is. I'd place it in the blobsquatch file.

Pixelation! Okay, This video is just like that Sylvanic thing. At the end of the video, the guy actually stepped on the footprint. How clever was that?

I have sent a e-mail to the reported video owner. asking for more details. My impression is that a large black bear stood up to view the approaching boys than drooped back down to all fours to move away. But you never know? Hope they reply.

Just caught a news clip on BCTV News as I was heading out the door that featured John Bindernagel talking about a very recent sasquatch sighting and track find on Vancouver Island.
Called Gerry and left a message asking him to tape it as I have to run to work.

Very interesting for sure, does not look like a bear to me, a realy good hoax, which the kids were in on, but I dont think so, the little boy was scared for sure, kids are more calmer than us with no strees, or worries like us, and maby the sasquatch didnt sense them like it would have us, and stayed a little longer than if it were us aproaching, it would have sensed us way before the kids, just my thought.

All it took for me to discount this video was to do a weather check for Tofino on July 16, 2006 when the video was taken.
The conditions in the video are wet and overcast. That day in Tofino the weather records show it was mostly sunny with some cloudy periods and no precipitation. The whole area is wet as is the older boys jacket in the video. He is also wearing a toque in July when it was around 18 degrees.
Like Thomas, I emailed the videographer who had claimed in an article on the Canadian Press wire service that he was sending the video to the BCSCC for "expert advice". This guy never replied to my email and I think that this is a silly hoax and no more time should be wasted on it.

I think that this Youtube video is a publicity stunt to promote the upcoming TV documentary.

OH, please. I grow weary of these videos. Hmmm. The witness made well to mention that he couldn't say where he was, or what he was looking at, oh wait is this a footprint? Then he proceeds to destroy the evidence. Hmmm. Ya think a group of kids seeing a 7 foot tall hairy manlike creature would start running to where it was to just look around. Yea right. After they changed thier pants, maybe.

Exactly! Started off right..but they blew it by doing a pre-planned follow up on the sighting area. You could tell that the older kid knew what he was going to find at the site before he even got there.
