Dear Raptor and Naturalist Friends:
HORNBY ISLAND --- BALD EAGLE NESTING --- LIVE STREAMING VIDEO !!
It you want to visit the eagle immediately without reading about the site (below) hit the following hot button to our Hancock House / Hancock Wildlife site.
Initial URL: www.hancockhouse.com/
At the top of this new page is the direct link to details of the Hornby Island Bald Eagle Nest: -- the [glow=red,2,300]RED Live Streaming Video from Hornby Island Eagle Nest[/glow].
Following our brief history on this nesting pair of Bald Eagles on Hornby Island British Columbia is the direct hot link: Nest Site: .....
I have been reluctant to tell the world about this site until we had a number of bugs worked out. The site runs most days for the daylight period (and as of last night, each days recording are rebroadcast at night). The first egg was laid March 21 at 5:45 PM and the second March 24. Hatching will hopefully be April 26 and 30th.
The Streaming video is being fully recorded and will be available for further reference and study. I have underwritten the costs of this on the basis that it would not just be fascinating but that it could serve as a tool for student research.
Some bugs in the transmission are causing the site to halt periodically -- particularly on Friday, Sat and Sunday. On other days it only seems to stop once or twice a day. The ADSL carrier is trying to resolve this.
In all my years as an eagle biologist I have never seen and heard an eagle in labor -- this intimate look is quite exceptional.
Everybody keeps telling me every school in North America should be running this look at the eagle -- and its impending hatching. If you know how to notify President Bush and his Secretary of Education please forward this url to them.
We appreciate any comments on the Hancock Wildlife Forum about this LIVE Streaming Video.
Please tell your raptor and research friends.
Happy observing,
David Hancock
