I listen to my "narrow-band" version (1KHz) again, I cannot hear those "metallic pings" suggested by Thomas. It is likely those pings were the results of the len cap hitting the camcorder. There is no ping in the band associated with each sasquatch call.

Played recording on my laptop. My cats reaction was to sit up, wide-eyed; then, look around the room several times. He ran to the front door; then, the center of the room, crouching down, looking around; then, to the far side of the house and back to me. At which point he began crying.
His usual behavior is to alert me when something happens (i.e., someone knocks at the front door). He was confused and upset for hours after I played the tape.

Interesting, may be it's a good idea to play the sound to other animals such as dogs and see if they react in such a way.

Listened to the wide band again. At about just after the sound of the closing door, there is a not-so-loud "yell" with has far lower frequency than the regular screams. May be two individuals there.

Has anyone ever done a timeline on when people report these vocalizations?
Just wondering if they could maybe help narrow when their mating seasons are as I have always suspected that they could be related to this - that is if they have a certain time they like to mate - being that maybe the reason they have such strong vocal cords is that being spread out as they are it's probably a very effective way of knowing where a possible mate might be.
Just a thought.

Hi Littlebigfoot,
We have had reports of possible sasquatch vocalizations right through the summer months, the fall and all the winter months. Hardly any from the spring when one would suspect mating to be taking place.
It might be interesting to note that the latest report we received was on December 21, from a very credible witness in the Deroche area of the Fraser Valley. This witness has heard the same strange loud screams emanating from the mountains near their home on about three occasions now.
Seems to me like sasquatch might remain in certain areas for extended periods of time, and may possibly be more territorial than we believe.

Hi All: I believe many of you will be happy to hear there's now a greatly improved and cleaned up version of the Chehalis sounds available for download at the following link: www.westcoast-sasquatch.com/chehalis2.mp3We would be very interested in hearing exactly what you think about this version of the Chehalis sounds. Thank you for posting a higher quality version of this. My initial impression is focused on the volume of the vocalization. Compared to the other sounds (dog barking and presumably close whispering) the volume seems huge. As for what is making the sound, it is not an elk, cougar, wolf, coyote or owl. Unless the owl has an amplifier and good speakers. It does have a primate sound about it, like a howler monkey on steroids. Is there any information on the the distance of the barking dog to the video camera. It seems like the sasquatch is closer, louder or both.

Hi muchalothairy:
Glad you enjoyed the final version of the Chehalis sounds. It was one pile of work but I think the final product was well worth the effort.
Believe it or not, the barking you hear was coming from the retired couple's neighbor's dog. I would say the dog was no more than 25 or 30 meters from their house.
On the other hand, if you sit in the retired couple's living room with the Chehalis sounds tape playing and view the position through the windows where the Hi-8 camcorder placed outside, it's really quite easy to estimate the distance and route the subject making the sounds was taking at the time.
In all honesty, I would say the subject started the vocalizations some 400 meters from their home and ended about 100 meters (or less) directly behind their home.
The retired couple mentioned that the sounds they heard (but did not record) in October 2004 were much closer to their home and far louder.
Hope this helps draw a picture.
