Hey Ken, I happen to be going out there with a couple friends soon. Been planning the trip for a little while now. I'll check out the older topics like you said, thanks.

Ken, Is there still an a frame cabin on the shore of Bute inlet just south of purcell point?I worked up that way in '97; doing heli-log.Last time I was there a note was posted on the cabin door saying "you may use this cabin,we just ask that you leave it in the condition that you found it in." Could make for an excellent base camp should anyone want to have an exp. in that region. If my memory serves me correct it sleeps 8 and that gravel beach provides some of the best fishing I've ever encountered in my life (Aug.-Sept.)Just don't tell anybody from DFO Jason Jason: According to a local friend the A-frame cabin (with screen mesh ends) located south of Purcell Point in Bute Inlet is still there and free to use with respect. The property the cabin sits on is now for sale. The fabulous fishing off the gravel beach in front of the cabin was also verified by my friend. The cabin is also located quite close to several sasquatch sightings that were reported to me so it would probably be a good base camp. My friend wanted me to ask you if you had any grizzly of black bear trouble while staying in the cabin? I was up that way two days ago and saw a couple bears along the beach on the other side of Bute Inlet. Sure pretty up there. Ken

Ken,
No bear troubles at all, as I was about 150 m offshore on a float camp so to speak, two barges for helicopters and fuel and an old Canadian navy boat H.M.S. Songhees. The only wildlife I saw were some wolves and well I did see the ass end of a bear, running off with my hill bag!And come to think of it I did lose a can of chain oil again probably a bear.I was up there Aug.-early Oct. so my guess is the big boys were gathering around the Southgate and Homathka waiting for the salmon.
Is that the Interfor camp where you work Ken? You really are in gods country up there fella!!

Hi Jason,
Yes Sir, it's God's country up here all right! Seems to be lots of bears up here this year. I live year-round and work at Warm Springs Resort on Stuart Island at the mouth of Bute Inlet.
