Other than Fred Beck, have any of the other Ape Canyon witnesses gone on record with their accounts? Also, does anyone know the exact site of the now razed cabin?

Thank you Gerry, I thought Badvatti would want to know the fastest access.... it's a long haul on foot, a bit faster on horseback/ parking is where the road dead ends at Lahar (terrible road) and climbing in from there......on the southeastern side of Mt. St. Helens. It's rugged, steep in places, scary and dangerous drop offs in there, also occasional rumbles from the mountain....
Hooray for me, I found my way back to this page......<g> Bobbie

Many thanks for the map & info! I will topo that area!
I'm an experienced climber/hiker... any guesstimates as to foot travel time??
Any landmarks identifying the site?
Last - are there extant accounts from the other witnesses??
For your generosity, I'll give WCSasq exclusive reprint rights to my BF interview!! - Hugz not Drugz, Badvatti

Phone ahead, or phone now….when you get your climber’s permit, the rangers will take your information and you can get a “current” trail map and mountain warnings. Call ahead, the mountain is active!!! Thank you for all the info. It looks like I'll have to wait for better season (Spring 2006) to get this done. Only an outside chance I'd get there in the waning daylight and wet of winter 2005.
But I'll share all the fun!
