I just got back from a quick trip to the 100-mile region and I'm happy to say that the animals have appeared to have returned in droves. We were greeted with deer and bears, plus the standard small critters. So thankfully the effects of the fires this year haven't been too bad!! Let's hope size 28 is fairing equally well!!

I found similar in one of my favorite areas E of Manning Park, on the Sun of the long weekend. Though the Placer Mt and Ashnola fires had merged around the east end of Placer Mt, and scorched a very wide swath, the Lynx Cr/Placer Cr watershed was 95% untouched, and I saw several deer, small game, and lots of grazing cattle, even though fire crews were still mopping up the perimeter of the burn. The fire may have actually concentrated the critters in that valley.
